Purpose of the Learnership: The Organization is committed to youth skills development by
providing youth with an opportunity to gain work experience. Applications are invited for a
Learnership from unemployed individuals between the age of 18 and 35.The learnership program
will run for a period of twelve (12) months.
Work based exposure may include the following:
 Various Departments within the RAF,
 Learners will be required to attend classes and complete assignments/portfolios of evidence,
 The learners will be required to go through formal learning programme and practical work
exposure components before they can be awarded their formal qualification.

CORRECTIONAL SERVICE LEARNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Correctional service learnership is another learnership opportunity that is available for applicants that have pertinent qualification for the learnership. This learnership opportunity is designed by department of correctional service in South Africa. Like other learnership opportunity, each year dept of correctional service will invite qualified applicants to join the learnership. Obviously, the chance for learnership opportunity by dept of correctional service is not for everyone, since those who expect to apply for the learnership should meet the requirements that are offered like qualifications and some other more. Within the learnership program applicants will deal with offenders for rehabilitation purpose. However, you are not alone in doing the correction, since you will be supervised by a so-called community based correctional. Due to the completion of the learnership, learner will obtain FET (further education training) certificate and qualification that is equivalent with NQF level 4.

Through the learnership from dept of correctional, learners that have interest in corrections field, they have their way to enhance their knowledge, work-based experience, and other skills. However, the benefit of correctional service learnership is not that only, since qualified learners will receive per month stipend during the learnership. Speak of learnership at dept of correctional service, it will be separated into; first, theoretical session where that is only 30% from the overall program where learners will get knowledge that include self defense, firearm, and physical training that is situated at higher institutions recognized by dept of correctional service. Within this period of learnership, learners will obtain training materials, meals, and also uniform. And second, it is practical session that covers 70% of the leanership. In addition, the rest of the learnership program will be located in Correctional and Reintegration center. Due upon the completion of the learnership, learners will be considered as skillful in correction area, though there is external assessment from other party. There is a possibility for learners to gain permanent job within dept of correctional service, however, it is not a guarantee.

  4. Where applicable the Company will support the appointed learner to achieve the minimum requirements by allowing the learner to attend a full trimester to obtain the relevant N2 subjects for the trade.

  • Must be prepared to work underground/surface and in plants “dusty areas”, and an eleven day fortnight shift where applicable;
  • Must be a South African Citizen;
  • Must pass the relevant Rehabilitation Functionality Assessment (RFA)  & medical certificate of fitness, and
